Heads of School
Getting to Know the Heads of Our School
Mrs. Sheila Linville
Sheila was born in Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey. It is a small suburban community. Her fondest memories are of playing in the snow and swimming in the lake with her older brothers. She attended Centenary College, an all women’s school, and graduated with a B.S in Communications and Development in 1990. She graduated from the Orlando Montessori Teacher Education Institute in 1992 and the Florida Institute of Montessori Studies in 2005. She is also a certified primary and elementary teacher through the American Montessori Society. At Rollins College she earned her MAT (Master of Arts in Teaching). Her husband, Scott, earned his MA in School Counseling. They graduated the same day!
Sheila has taught at two of the finest programs in the greater Orlando area: St. James Cathedral School, where she taught at the pre-school and lower elementary levels; and Montessori World School, where she taught a multi-aged lower elementary class, with an emphasis in math and science.
Last year, she celebrated her 20th anniversary as an educator. Sheila wears many hats at LMMA including her role as Educational Coordinator where she continues to develop curriculum and programs with an eye toward national and international educational standards.
Sheila delights in creating a community of families. The school is truly her vision come true. She, her husband, and two sons, Mitchell and Aidan, live in Winter Springs. Sheila enjoys yoga, reading, walking, cooking and spending time with her family.
Mr. Scott Linville
Scott is a Hoosier from the great state of Indiana by birth, but has resided in the greater Orlando area since the day Disney World opened its doors in the early ‘70s. Scott graduated Cum Laude from Rollins College with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Marketing in 1987. Following placements with Marriott Hotels and American Airlines in marketing positions, Scott returned to Central Florida in 1990 to become a part of the Office of Admission at Rollins. At Rollins, Scott held the position of Associate Director of Admission and Director of International Admission for the College of Arts and Sciences. He was responsible for coordinating the enrollment of 425 freshmen each year, 40 of which were from outside the United States. In his free time over this 12-year period, he observed many Montessori campuses from Boston and Washington, D.C., to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Geneva, Switzerland. This exposure allowed him to conceptualize how LMMA would one day grow. In 1998, while at Rollins, he received his M.A. in K-12 School Counseling.
Although Scott had been working behind the scenes for many years, he officially joined LMMA in 2001. In addition to Human Resources, he oversees the School's operating budget, Annual Fund budget, and as Communications Director, coordinates marketing and advertising for LMMA.
Some of his additional responsibilities included forming a committee to design the LMMA website, facilitating LMMA’s change of status to not-for-profit, and working with the American Montessori Society and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) in the accreditation process achieving the accolade of one of the top-tier Montessori programs in the country. Another major task at hand was the growth of the school into an elementary program and the physical growth of the campus and development of the Outdoor Recreational Sports Complex.
