Dear LMMA Families,
Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year! Another summer has come and gone, and we find ourselves settling back into a welcomed routine. We hope all families enjoyed their break and are looking towards a cooler Fall season with all of the wonderful things it has in store for us and our children!
In keeping with tradition, we wanted to announce our school’s Annual Fund’s initiatives, our Philanthropic Recipient and how we will go about raising money this year to benefit the Annual Fund.
Let’s begin with our 4th Annual Fun-D Run that will happen on Friday, October 21st at 5:30 p.m. in Central Winds Park. For those families and friends that are new to us this year, the 4th Annual Fun-D Run is a wonderful community event that you won’t want to miss! At no other time during the year will we be able to come together as a whole to celebrate our children and our school. Our fun run starts out with a 2 mile run/walk/jog along a paved pathway adjacent to the park, followed by a family style picnic inside the park and a raffle filled with exciting items for all! More information about the event will be distributed, but please SAVE THE DATE and plan on attending with the entire family!
Our initiatives will include several items this year. Primary friends will be able to enjoy a new play structure to replace the wooden/red one currently in use on the playground. The new structure will be made of coated metal which will help reduce maintenance and allergens. All teachers will receive new and updated iPads for use in their classrooms. A few supplementary iPads are needed to replace those that are no longer in working condition. Additional outdoor furniture pieces will be purchased as needed for use around the school as well. Along with the replanting of our tower gardens, we will continue to fulfill our commitment to Rosetta Stone for our Upper Elementary friends.
We are pleased to announce that our philanthropic recipient this year, Orange/Seminole Foster Children’s Association, and more specifically their j.c.’s Kidz Dudz program, will be receiving 15% of the proceeds raised through corporate sponsors who support our 4th Annual Fun-D Run. Our very own Monica McGill (Kiera’s Mom in O’Keeffe) has been partnered with this local and worthy cause for five years. The OSFCA (www.osfca.com) j.c.’s Kidz Dudz program was organized to help all children entering foster care by providing necessities in a crucial time of need. When a foster parent receives a new child, it usually happens in the middle of the night or without much warning. Often times that child comes in with just the clothing on their backs. The j.c. Kidz Dudz closet is a place where the foster parent and child can go and select 7 days worth of clothing that will always belong to the child, wherever they go. LMMA will have a clothing drive in October to also help with these needs. More information on that to follow.
Kristen Manieri will be handling our Fun-D Run Raffle this year. In addition to asking for donations from local businesses, we want to turn to our community and ask that any families who own their own businesses and would like to contribute to our raffle, to please do so! What a great way to get your business noticed and frequented by our LMMA family! We are also accepting gift basket donations from families who would like to give independently. Corporate Sponsorships are also available. More information on the raffle will be distributed as the Fun-D Run approaches.
Our NASCAR on-line auction will take place again this year as well. Dr. Michael Lynch, Vice President, Green Innovation and STEM Platforms, and father of Samantha Lynch (DaVinci) has very graciously offered to donate several unique NASCAR experiences for the fourth year in a row! To date, these tickets have raised over $7600.00 for our school! These tickets are transferrable and make wonderful gifts. Our auction will activate shortly, so please be on the lookout for more information via e-mail in the next few weeks. (Tickets will include Hot Pit Passes, Pace Car Rides and Grandstand Tickets to the Ford EcoBoost 400 Championship, the Daytona 500 and the Coke Zero 400.) Our heartfelt thanks go out to Dr. Michael Lynch, Sharon Gordon and Samantha Lynch!
What we are asking for this year in order to keep the Annual Fund “rolling” is simply your PARTICIPATION. Participation in the Fun-D Run, participation in our raffle and participation in our on-line auction (if nothing else than to just spread the word). Community involvement is what has made us successful in creating an Annual Fund that can flourish this year by asking for your participation in lieu of a monetary donation made via a blue envelope. Our goal is $10,000, which we believe we can meet by doing what we have outlined in this letter. We will solicit corporate donations, we ask that you support our raffle and we believe we can have another successful on-line auction if you help us spread the word. Did we mention all we need from YOU is PARTICIPATION?
