Annual Fund

Lake Mary Montessori Academy Annual Fund

LMMA parents generously give of their time and talents through our Parent Volunteer Organization. In that same spirit, the Annual Fund Gift is asked for in addition to your volunteer time. It is the one of the most important gift you can share with your school community. The Fund has a specific purpose each year, and is clearly outlined at the Back To School Night in September. We open the fund drive in October, and it typically runs for a six week period, so we can implement the changes in the new year.

The Annual Fund gives our school the opportunity to offer an excellent education for each child by:

- affording us the opportunity to create new and innovative curricula;

- allowing us to focus on the academic and enrichment needs for the children each year; and

- supporting the physical plant growth within our campus.

Past Annual Fund drives have been very successful.

- The 2006-2007 Annual Fund raised $37,000 for the installation of a wireless network and computer stations in each classroom.

- The 2007-2008 Annual Fund raised $49,500 for the building of an outdoor recreation complex for the children.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is each family expected to give?
Consistent with the long-standing “LMMA community approach” and the specific objectives for each year, we would like for each family to provide as much or as little as they can. No contribution is too small –100% participation is the key. This is our school and our community; participation by every family demonstrates the sense of community that we have.

Why are we conducting an Annual Fund rather than another type of fundraiser?
As parents and business professionals, we know that raising funds is necessary for every school. However, it is not necessary to spend hundreds of hours planning a gala dinner, or to subject parents to repeated raffles or calendar/gift wrap sales. We want to focus on the need to accomplish our goal in a simple, straightforward manner.

Who heads up the Annual Fund and why?
There is a long-standing practice in schools to not have the leaders of the school directly involved in these fundraising activities. Sheila and Scott focus on the operations of the school. A committee of parents is responsible for conducting the Annual Fund drive.

We thank you in advance for your support of our Annual Fund.
